Gifts support world-class faculty members

Campaign gifts to Weinberg College created 14 new named, endowed professorships. The highest honor a university can bestow upon a faculty member.

A total of 90 endowed professorships were created during the Campaign to attract and retain top faculty at Northwestern. Of these, 25 were supported in part by Pat and Shirley Ryan through the Ryan Family Chair Challenge, which matched gifts made by other Northwestern supporters to establish new endowed professorships, or chairs, across a wide range of disciplines.

Weinberg College faculty members drive the University’s excellence, holding 70 percent of the top awards and honors held by Northwestern faculty. Our faculty includes a Nobel Prize laureate, more than 50 members of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, over 75 members of the National Academy of Sciences, nearly 20 Guggenheim Fellows, and numerous MacArthur Foundation Fellows and National Book Award winners.
